What does Invisalign treatment involve?

Next, we take digital scans of your mouth to create your treatment plan. Using 3D images of your jaws and teeth in a computer, Dr. Wynne can simulate your entire orthodontic journey to determine how and when each tooth moves. This way, we can establish your treatment cost and timeline even before the actual treatment starts!
Once aligned with treatment, we order a set of aligners from our Invisalign lab. When your aligners arrive after two to three weeks, wear them 20-22 hours daily until your treatment is complete. Also, you should switch each set every two weeks with another set that moves your teeth closer to perfection.
When you complete your treatment — usually between 6-18 months — we recommend wearing a retainer to prevent your smile from relapsing. You’ll wear your retainer for at least 22 hours for the first three months and then 12 hours (nighttime) after the initial three months.

How to maintain your aligners
Keeping your aligners clean is critical before placing them in your mouth. Every night, gently brush your aligners and rinse them in lukewarm water. Never put your aligners in hot water, as this can warp them. Also, don’t eat with your aligners because it can discolor or stain them. When you aren’t using your aligners, store them in a case to avoid breakage.
In case you break your aligners, inform us immediately. We suggest solutions like wearing your previous or next set to avoid disrupting your treatment plan. These measures are quick fixes until your new set of aligners is ready.
